Introduction:
The National Center of Excellence for Aviation Operations Research (NEXTOR) was
established on June 26, 1996 as one of the five Centers of Excellence created by the
Federal Aviation Administration.
Our strategic goal is to lead the aviation community by advancing new ideas and
paradigms for aviation operations, educating and training aviation professionals,
and promoting knowledge transfer among industry, government and academic leaders.
Core members include:

39th Annual Short Course
Airport Systems Planning and Design
November 15-18, 2010

NEXTOR is offering this short course, which provides an introduction to the broad range of issues that arise
in planning airport systems and the development of new and existing airports, as well as the design of airport
facilities to handle both aircraft and passenger demand.

2009 NAS Performance Workshop

The Workshop brought together decision makers, scholars and stakeholders interested in modeling, measuring, and managing the
strategic and operational performance of the National Airspace System (NAS). The theme of this year’s Workshop was “The NEXTGEN
We Need: the Strategic Value of NAS Modernization.” Participants left this conference with a broader perspective on the
strategic value of their programs and work, methods for assessing and documenting that value, and opportunities to increase
their contributions toward meeting the challenges faced by the nation and the world.
